Habitat for Humanity
St. Luke's regulalry participates in Habitat for Humanity in Paterson, NJ. Paterson Habitat for Humanity, Inc. is a volunteer Christian ecumenical housing ministry. Its mission is “to develop communities with God’s people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended." On our work days we are assigned various tasks that require minimal levels of skill so everyone can participate.
Habitat for Humanity welcomes everyone — from all faiths, ages, races, walks of life and cultures — who share a concern about the need for shelter, to join this effort. Since Paterson Habitat began in 1984, 204 homes have been built with private donations from individuals, churches & faith congregations and businesses. Habitat for Humanity is a story of the power of ordinary people stepping forward to make a difference.
