AIM - Action in Ministry
On he first and third Sundays of each month, a special collection is taken (in red wicker baskets). The sole purpose of the fund is to distribute 100% of its monies to worthwhile organizations which can be local, regional, national or international in scope. A few of the ministries supported in the past year are Episcopal Relief & Development Fund - Haiti Relief, Daytop Village, a drug and alcohol dependency facility which provides family oriented treatment for adults and teens and Broadway House, Newark, a special care facility for people living with AIDS.
The contributions that enable the Outreach Committee to make grants to organizations working on a local, regional, and international level come from the AIM (Action In Ministry) offerings. These contributions are only for outreach; all AIM offerings are designated for the wider community as determined by the Outreach Committee and approved by the Vestry.
Grants made last year include:
- Toni’s Kitchen $ 1,000
- Broadway House for Continuing Care, Newark $ 500
- Montclair State Protestant Foundation $ 1,000
- Crop Walk – Church World Services $ 750
- Montclair Ambulance Unit $ 500
- Daytop Village, a drug and alcohol dependency facility for young people operated by the Sisters of St. John the Baptist (Episcopal), Mendham $ 500
- Holy Cross Monastery (Episcopal), West Park, N.Y., for their work in providing meals and educational services to people in poverty. $ 500
- Turning Point Community Services $1,000
- Episcopal Relief & Development Fund - Haiti Relief - $4,300.00
