Marshall & Ogletree Installs
Its "Opus 2" Organ
at St. Luke's Episcopal Church
NEW YORK, August 25, 2006 –
Torrence & Yaeger,
worldwide sales and marketing
for Marshall & Ogletree of Needham, Massachusetts, announces the
completion of the three manual, 49 stop, 79 voice virtual pipe
organ in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Montclair, New Jersey.
Charles Hunter, a well-known musician in the New
York area—at one time a tuner at The Riverside Church for Virgil
Fox and a pipe organ builder himself—is Organist and Director of
Music at Montclair's English Gothic style church, complete with
Tiffany windows and a distinguished music program. The E.M.
Skinner organ—60 ranks dating from the early 1920s—had suffered
water damage early in its life, and had never dealt
satisfactorily with the acoustics of the church. It was in
deplorable condition, so in the summer of 2005 the church
decided to purchase an organ that would adequately support
congregation singing, as well as that of St. Luke's fine choir. |
