Living the Good News for Youth from 3rd to 5th Grade

Our 3rd to 5 Grade students explore the lectionary based lessons presented by the Living the Good News curriculum It is designed to help this age group see their place in God’s diverse and challenging world.

Knowing that kids learn in very many different ways, and that feeling welcome and comfortable is a key component to learning, we have designed our classrooms with kids in mind.

At this age we supplement Bible stories with computer games.   At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit gave the disciples the gift of speaking in a different language, -the language of the hearer. In today's church, that includes sharing the Gospel through the language of multimedia and computers. You can explore some of this software at www.Sundaysoftware.com

Children of this age are encouraged to become Acolytes and Junior Choir members so as to participate fully in the worship experience on a regular basis.

Special Events such as Breakfast with Santa and Easter Bunny Egg Hunt and Barbeque continue to build community amongst families with children in this age group. During coffee hour the balcony comes alive with intergenerational ping pong games.

SLYP (St Luke’s Youth Players) meets on Friday evenings from 7:30-8:30 to prepare both the Christmas pageant and a Spring performance. Scenes from the 2008 Christmas Paegent can be viewed in the video below:
