spacerLectors & Lectionary Based Bible Study
On Tuesdays at noon from September through June we look at the lectionary based scriptures that will be used at church on the following Sunday. The group meets in the Great Room just outside the parish offices on the first floor by the parking lot. Each of the passages is read and we look at where the scripture touches our lives. The conversation often moves toward current events and how they are reflected and interpreted through that weeks lessons. No prior knowledge of the Bible is needed and participants are invited to bring a lunch.

Lectors
Lectors (a church term for readers in the service) are scheduled to read the above lections at services. At the 8:00 a.m. service and the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service the first listed Lector will read the first lesson (generally from the Old Testament) and lead the Psalm. The second listed lector will read the second lesson (generally from one of the epistles) The 8:00 Lector will also be called upon to read the prayers of the people.

Lectors are asked to review the lessons before Sunday to prepare for challenging words. Lectors are asked to arrive at church at least 15 minutes prior to the service and inform the clergy or Worship Assistant that they are present. Someone may be asked to read in your place if you do not arrive in time.

Lectors are asked to move toward the lecturn so they are ready to begin reading. At the 10:00 service, the Lectors are asked to come down the side aisle and approch the lectern from behind. At the conclusion of the reading the lectors may move directly back into their seats in the congregation.
