

Read, Mark, Learn and Inwardly Digest
We are called to study the Bible as Hol Scripture that contains all things necessary for salvation. A thoughtful study of these ancient word proves them to be quite informative in our modern world. Intellectual study combined with prayer reveals new insights each time familiar stories are re-read revealing scripture that is alive.
Tuesday Lectionary Based Bible Study
On Tuesdays at noon from September through June we look at the lectionary based scriptures that will be used at church on the following Sunday. The group meets in the Great Room just outside the parish offices on the first floor by the parking lot. Each of the passages is read and we look at where the scripture touches our lives. The conversation often moves toward current events and how they are reflected and interpreted through that weeks lessons. No prior knowledge of the Bible is needed and participants are invited to bring a lunch. Click here for more information about schedule and the lessons.
Wednesday Study of Mark's Gospel
On Wednesdays at 6:30 we gather in the Adult Education Room just off the main Assembly Room (where we have coffee hour on Sunda Morning) to look at a sequential section of Mark's Gospel. This group meets from Sepember through early June and will take on other texts after working through Mark. The Holy Scriptures

Q. What are the Holy Scriptures?
A. The Holy Scriptures, commonly called the Bible, are the
books of the Old and New Testaments; other books,
called the Apocrypha, are often included in the Bible.
Q. What is the Old Testament?
A. The Old Testament consists of books written by the
people of the Old Covenant, under the inspiration of the
Holy Spirit, to show God at work in nature and history.
Q. What is the New Testament?
A. The New Testament consists of books written by the
people of the New Covenant, under the inspiration of
the Holy Spirit, to set forth the life and teachings of
Jesus and to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
for all people.
Q. What is the Apocrypha?
A. The Apocrypha is a collection of additional books
written by people of the Old Covenant, and used in
the Christian Church.
Q. Why do we call the Holy Scriptures the Word of God?
A. We call them the Word of God because God inspired
their human authors and because God still speaks to us
through the Bible.
Q. How do we understand the meaning of the Bible?
A. We understand the meaning of the Bible by the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church in the true
interpretation of the Scriptures.
